If you have a court hearing or a deadline coming soon, do
miss it. Applying for legal help does
extend your deadline.
When your application is submitted, we initially get only enough information to make sure we have not assisted the person you are having the problem with. If we have assisted the other person, we do not get the remaining information. This initial information is not confidential. Once we determine that we have not assisted the other person, we review the remaining information to determine if you are eligible for free legal help.
To be eligible for free legal help, you must meet various requirements. That is why we ask for: (a) information about your income and assets; (b) your age; (c) your status as a Veteran; (d) your citizenship status; (e) where you live; and (f) the type of legal problem you have.
We only provide services to low income individuals and do not handle criminal or traffic cases
If you are eligible for our services, an attorney will call to give you legal advice concerning your problem. The attorney will also tell you if we can provide additional services to you. We try to make a decision within two business days after you submit your application.
Please return to this website within 5 business days to check on the status of your application and important messages from our staff.
You will be provided an ID number and password when you submit your application.
SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION DOES NOT CREATE AN ATTORNEY-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP AND DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR LEGAL HELP.
I have read the above and understand it. I know I need to protect my rights by taking any necessary steps while applying for help.
